A workshop of paddy harvesting and harvest festival will be held in September, 2019 in Chiba prefecture, Japan.
In our workshop, we continue to succeed raising rice with pesticide-free production and 100% organic fertilizer by hand work despite being considered impossible before starting the workshop.
You must join us if you are interested in Japanese culture, people and traditional planting.

A paid tented camp is available in our workshop site until the following day of the event if you would like. We also prepare rental camping equipments.

*Purpose
of this event
Cooperative activities through rice farming; "Farm together, Eat together."
- Conservation and development of Satoyama (A border zone or area between mountain foothills and arable flat land).
- Cultural exchange between city and country, or between domestic and international.
- Aiming at cultural promotion, contribution to society and industrial promotion.
*Date
Sun. 15 September, 2019
Start around at 10:30 AM (It is going to be postponed only in case of heavy rain).
*Rain date is either Mon.(holiday) 16 September or Mon.(holiday) 23 September.
*Venue
Mutsuzawa-machi (Mutsuzawa-town), Chosei-gun (Chosei-district), Chiba prefecture, Japan.
The Closest station: Kazusa-Ichinomiya Station on Sotobo Line (1 hour from Tokyo station by the limited express "Wakasio").
*Participation fee and insurance fee
- Person over the age of 30: 2,000 Japanese Yen.
*Recreation insurance fee is included

- Person under the age of 30: 100 Japanese Yen

*Qualification for participation
As a general rule, people aged 10 or above can participate in this workshop with participants' safety in mind.
However, children under the age of 10 can participate if their parents or guardians always take care of them.

*Content of this event
- Paddy harvesting.
- Hanging out to dry paddy rice.
- Two little open-air stalls will be set up. You can purchase local honey, bean risotto which is made from locally sourced ingredients, etc.
- You can get polished rice(about 300 gram) as souvenir.
*We enjoy working in two to three hours with some breaks in this workshop.
*What to wear
It may be muddy in some places even if sunny day. You would be better off bring high rubber boots.
You also need long-sleeved shirt and long pants for protection from insects and solar insolation.
We prepare sickles and work gloves.
You would be better off bring extra cloths and towels just in case.
Shower is also available.
*Lunch [harvest festival]
Buffet lunch is provided.
*What to bring
Tableware; cup, fork, knife, spoon, chopsticks, plate, etc.
*Change or cancel of the schedule
The schedule of this workshop is subject to change or cancel with unavoidable circumstances such as bad weather, etc.
*Tented Camp
A paid tented camp is available in our workshop site until the following day of the event if you would like. We also prepare rental camping equipments.
Feel free to ask us from here about camping fee or rental fees of equipments.
*There is only one shower in our workshop. If you would like to have a bath, please use local bathing facilities. It takes about 5 minutes by car from our workshop.
*Please prepare cooking ingredients for the dinner and next-day breakfast by yourself.

Please note the following before you apply;
- We will shoot a video of this event for publication.
- Please answer the following questionnaire;
1. Names and age of all the participants.
2. Cell-phone number of representative person.
3. Name of your current hometown.
4. Transportation to our workshop; by your own car or using a transportation service from Kazusa-Ichinomiya Station to our workshop.
5. If you would like to camp in our workshop site, please ask details.
